My brothers Max and I were born in Crowley, Louisiana. I was born on April 15th 1907, Max
was born in 1905, and Clyde in 1913. The whole family was into music, I don't remember
anybody in the family who didn't play the piano, whether we studied or not. The piano was like
the dinning room table. People were always around it. Our cousin Jim Europe, the band leader
during the first World War. We had a an uncle, Palmer Jones, who "lived a great portion of his
life in Paris, He played and had bands over there.
Max and Clyde were in the business before I joined then. They started in 1933. They werewith Wayman McCob as a trio and started with Fletcher Henderson, His father was an eminent
doctor and he wanted Wayman to follow in his footsteps, so he got Wayman to leave show
business which he loved so he could go back to school. Wayman's now as eminent doctor
himself in Los Angeles. His daughter is Marilyn McCoo.
After that act broke up, my brothers were with two other fellows and called themselves The
Giants of Harmony, They were big in New York and the East. I came from New Orleans to
Boston, The reason for that movement was our father passed away in 1939 in Montgomery
Alabama, He was the Reverend HE. Jones. Of course Max and Clyde came down to
Montgomery, my father stopped in New Orleans to see me and he Told me that he knew his time
wasn't long. That medical science had done all they could do for him, so he was going home to
her mother and mine  'sue' married to clyde and hadmy sister michell

On some level, blues are always about community, and while this is true of Rondo, it happens to be, somehow like the singer himself, intensely beyond the norm. Rondo was born in 1945 in Brockton, Massachusetts, and he has lived for patches of time on both the east and west coasts. But he grew up in Robertson, Missouri, and has been a figure in St. Louis blues for the last 30 years. Robertson is a once-vibrant, predominantly black community bordering Hazelwood, Bridgeton and Lambert Airport that has in the last two decades been nearly completely dismantled. [See sidebar.] His story and his music, including and especially the songs of others he loves most to sing, are ingrained in this community.

The Jones Brothers chose to make Boston and the northeast their home for over fifty years, all
three brothers are living in greater Boston. While their public performing days are over ( but
plans are being made to return to the entertainment field as all three can still sing and play with
the best of them), they will always be remembered for the vocal originally, syncromathic
instrumentation, and especially the professionalism they imbued throughout their career.

Our father was a giant! He was a Ph.D .. I've not met a man yet who can touch him. He was always so dynamic. He was offered professorships at all the black colleges all over the place, but
he thought he could do more for his people from the pulpit than in the classroom. he graduated
from Fisk and received his doctorate from Columbia.
He founded the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Pensacola Florida. and we used to sing after his
sermons. We lived in Florida during our earlier years. we had an excellent background.wordsby 'HERBERT JONES' about my grandpa    the reverand HR.JONES
